Have Some Fun Before It’s Done

We have reached the final days of summer. Children are already back in school, the trees are starting to turn, and football season is underway. You might feel as if summer flew right by, but we have a few great and fun ideas for some last minute summer fun around Flower Mound before autumn begins.

Squeeze Out The Last Bit of Fun with These Events

Date Night – Friday, September 9th from 7:00-9:00 PM

painting "we found love in Texas"

Painting With a Twist is an exciting little studio that offers regular painting lessons in the form of two hour projects. What’s the twist?

Their instructors don’t take life too seriously, and this adult-friendly studio thinks the combination of wine, food, and a fun little art project is a great way to spend some quality time with your significant other.

Pop the cork, relax, and order to-go while you learn to paint.

Big Guns BYOG (Bring Your Own Gun) – Friday, September 9th from 7:00-9:00 PM

lots of nerf guns

The inevitable result of dads getting involved.

Nerf toys have become a part of our culture. It’s not even limited to children; plenty of adults love Nerf Guns and break the monotony of the day-to-day grind with play.

Anyone who has ever enjoyed the fun and shenanigans associated with such an activity has dreamed of the day when they could participate in an all out war. That time is now.

Competitive Edge Sports offers monthly Nerf battles, often varying in theme. This month, the theme is “Big Guns”. You can finally justify your purchase of that N-Strike Elite Rhino-Fire Blaster.

GrapeFest – September 15th-18th

grapes

We like to celebrate wine Texas style. Our wild Mustang grapes have made this area the heart of the Texas wine industry, and we celebrate that tradition with a four-day festival called Grapefest.

There will, of course, be a variety of wine-related activities, from tastings to grape stompings.

Many may come for the wine, but then stay for the cars, sports, and food.  It wouldn’t be Texas if we didn’t try and shoot something, so test your grit against the best in the traditional Champagne Cork Shoot-Off!

Be the Dinosaur — Through September 18th, 2016

Who doesn’t love dinosaurs? The exhibit at the Grand Gallery has been running most of the summer, but the end of the dinosaurs is near! Be the Dinosaur combines the traditional exhibit of bones and paleontology displays with high-tech, bringing these ancient lizards back to life.

You can get a greater feel for what life might have been like during the Cretaceous, with dinosaurs that have muscles and nerves, giving you the chance to be the dinosaur. It’s a very neat experience that children will especially enjoy.

Changing Gears

Summer officially ends in just a few weeks, and with that will come a change in our priorities. Texas families are just getting back into the swing of the new school year, and it won’t be too long before we are thinking about things like costumes, family holidays, and gift-giving.

You might be wondering where the time went, but there are still plenty of opportunities for fun and things to do in Flower Mound.
